The National Hurricane Center is watching a broad area of low pressure in the Caribbean sea that is expected to move northward into the Gulf of Mexico. Senior hurricane specialist Stacy Stewart says there’s a medium chance that system can develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours…

Stewart says sea surface temperatures are still warm, which is essential to tropical storm development, but he says atmospheric winds can inhibit potential storms from forming.

Saints Coach Sean Payton says current gun laws are flawed and frustrating as he spoke about gun control in light of the massacre in Las Vegas. He says you can either quietly sit and do nothing, or speak up about what he calls a clear problem in our country…:

Louisiana is set to receive 55-million dollars in federal grant money to improve the reading and writing skills of struggling students. State department of education spokesperson Sydni Dunn says the state will receive 18.5 million dollars each year for the next three years and they already know how the money will be allocated
