The Louisiana House has decided to wait until Sunday night before voting on a tax bill that has the backing of Governor John Bel Edwards. A vote on the measure was scheduled for Thursday, but the author of the bill, Bogalusa Representative Malinda White, says the 53 votes are not there to get it passed. It would temporarily reduce a tax deduction for those who itemize on their state income tax returns.

During Governor John Bel Edwards weekly call-in show, he was asked if increasing the state’s gasoline tax could be used to address the state’s 600-million dollar revenue shortfall. Edwards says he has established a transportation task force that will look into revenue raising measures such as gas taxes, tolls, and other ideas. But he says those dollars will have to go towards transportation…
