There was a huge send-off today for Deputy Bruce Simmons who was wounded in the ambush. He was released from a Baton Rouge hospital after undergoing at least two surgeries.

Verbal jabs are already flying in the race for the 2nd Congressional district, which stretches from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. Democratic incumbent Cedric Richmond criticized Holden for being absent during what has been a difficult two weeks for the city of Baton Rouge. But Holden says he’s been active behind the scenes…
