Tonight is the Major League Baseball Draft. LSU shortstop Alex Bregman could be a top five pick. UL Lafayette shortstop Blake Trahan may also go in the first round.

Former New Orleans Saint Tracy Porter has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears. This will be Porter’s fifth NFL team. Porter only played in three games last season for the Washington Redskins.

The Sun Belt announced today UL Lafayette’s home game against Northwestern State and ULM’s contest against Nicholls State will be televised by ESPN Three. Both games are set to be played on September 12th.

The NCAA announces that the shot clock in men’s college basketball will be reduced from 35 to 30-seconds next season. And each team will only have four timeouts instead of five. Also, women’s basketball will play four ten-minute quarters instead of two 20-minute halves.

And new Louisiana Tech men’s basketball coach Eric Konkol has signed his first two Bulldogs, six-foot-four guard Da’shawn Robinson and six-foot-eight forward Jy’lan Washington. Robinson averaged 12 points at Navarro College in Texas last season, while Washington averaged 18 points and eight rebounds at a high school in Tennessee last year.
