There was a forum of the Lt. Governor candidates today and the main focus was the fued between Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden and Opelousas Senator Elbert Guillory. Holden, who is an African American, strongly disapproves of Guillory’s use of the n-word in his campaign commercials. Guillory, who is also black, said that only an idiot, who had not seen the spot, would make the comments that Holden made. Holden piped back..:

The Livingston Parish man accused of brutally attacking his pregnant wife and killing their unborn child has pleaded guilty. 34-year-old Jeffrey Reynolds of Walker was arrested in 2013 on charges of attempted manslaughter and first degree feticide. He has been sentenced to 20 years. It is believed Reynolds was on bath salts at the time of the attack.

A donor who wishes to remain anonymous is offering to pay New Orleans $126,000 to remove four prominently displayed Confederate monuments. Mayor Mitch Landrieu has been pushing for the symbols to come down and be declared a public nuisance. The City Council said they got a letter this week with information that an anonymous donor was ready to pay the cost of taking the monuments down.

The Many Police Department says a Texas man is under arrest after being caught with apparent narcotics in his pocket but claiming the pants he was wearing weren’t his and he didn’t know where they came from. Police spokesperson Dean Lambert says 41-year-old Demontra Nelson of Houston was charged with with possession of both cocaine and marijuana, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. Lambert says he’s been in law enforcement a long time and has only heard this excuse one other time…:
