Heavy rains continue across the state as a tropical depression treks inland. State climatologist Barry Keim says even though Tropical Storm Cindy was downgraded this morning, we aren’t out of the woods yet. He says north Louisiana will get the heaviest rains.

Tornado watches remain in effect in southeast Louisiana until 10 pm.
Department of Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson says several roads have been closed in south Louisiana. He encourages motorists to visit 511.la.org for up to date travel information.

Wilson reminds drivers it is never safe to cross a flooded roadway.
The Louisiana Nursing Home Association announces 18 facilities in the state have been chosen as a recipient for the Bronze-Commitment to Quality Award. This achievement spotlights providers who have demonstrated commitment to quality care for seniors. Lisa Gardner with CommCare nursing centers says all these facilities have shown a great improvement.

The 18 facilities that received the achievement are located throughout the state from Bossier City to Houma.
