Three Baton Rouge law enforcement officers lost their lives one year ago today in an ambush attack on police. Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says the community will never forget these brave men. He says the men and women in his department have come together to stay strong.

Today, Baton Rouge police are seeking a murder suspect accused of killing his ex-girlfriend. Sgt. Don Coppola says the victim, 41-year-old Monique Maxie, was getting out of a vehicle with another person when she was shot.

More and more Louisiana students are applying for financial aid for college, according to the state department of education. The department says 65 percent of high school seniors completed FAFSA, up from 58 percent the previous year. The Baton Rouge Advocate reports that rate is an all-time high for the state.
