The victims are identified as 46-year-old Kem Smith of Clinton, and 39-year-old Clifton Cowan Jr of Zachary.
State Police was able to open I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish to all lanes of traffic mid afternoon after cleaning up an overnight crash involving a passenger vehicle and six 18-wheelers. They believe fog was a factor when a car met traffic congestion and stopped around 3am, then was hit from behind by a mac truck before 5 other 18-wheelers slammed into the crash. There were only 2 minor injuries. It took most of the day to clear the interstate.
Starting with the senior class 2018, Louisiana high school students who attend public school will be required to apply for financial aid for college.
