A commission that oversees the French Quarter voted today to remove the 124-year-old “Liberty Place” monument, because its a public nuisance. It’s one of four structures that New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu wants removed because of its connection with the Confederate Army. The city council still has to approve its removal.
