Much of the southern half of the state is under a flash flood watch tonight through tomorrow.
The state Department of Transportation holds a meeting tonight in Lake Charles to take public comment about a proposed new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge. Lake Charles Representative Phillip Tarver says the cost of the bridge is estimated to be $1.5 billion and one billion has already been allocated for the project. As for the remaining amount needed, he says there are differing opinions on how it should be funded.

Senegal says the shooting happened inside a deliberation room. The identity of the person has yet to be released.
The executive director of the Louisiana Association of School Superintendents says Louisiana is one of only 13 states that require all high school juniors to take the ACT test. Michael Faulk says students who are not planning on going to college shouldn’t have to take the test because they are not prepared for it.

Faulk says the A-C-T should be optional for students who are planning on getting a full-time job after high school.
