There was a heated exchange today in Baton Rouge at a Lt. Governor forum between Democrat Kip Holden and Republican Elbert Guillory. Holden, the Baton Rouge Mayor and African American, does not approve of Guillory using the n-word in his campaign commercials. But Guillory, who is a black lawmaker from Opelousas, said he included the phrase in the ad for “educational purposes”:

Holden responded by saying he’d rather be called an idiot than the n-word.
A grand jury in East Baton Rouge Parish indicted a man accused of hiring three people to kill his ex-wife on charges of first degree murder. 64-year-old Hamid Ghassemi, a Baton Rouge car dealership owner, is accused of paying $10,000 to have the victim, 54-year-old Tahera Ghassemi, abducted, killed and buried in April. She was discovered over a month later. DA Hillar Moore says his office will consider seeking the death penalty.
It’s almost flu season again so that means it’s time to get your flu shot. The Center for Disease Control’s Flu Expert Michael Jhung says last year’s flu season was a rough one so if the vaccination is available, you should get one as soon as possible. He says the flu shot is safe and it can only cause local side effects, like redness at the injection site…:
