The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says agents rescued 23 people from a flooded trailer park in Tangipahoa Parish this morning. Our state got dumped with rain last night and some areas even recorded 10 inches according to forecasters. LDWF says the residents said the water was coming into trailers while they were sleeping this morning and agents then went to the scene with a boat rescued 23 people and a dog.

The Ruston Police Department says the woman who is accused of kidnapping a child in a stolen car last night has been arrested and the 8-year-old is now safe. Ruston PD Deputy Chief Clint Williams says the child’s mother reported 23-year-old Sommer Hattaway took her car while her son was in there sleeping. The child and Hattaway were located in Ouachita Parish and Williams says they are still working to determine why this happened…:

Hattaway is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and kidnapping.

Republican candidate for governor David Vitter has written a letter to State Police Col Mike Edmonson letting him know he won’t be needing personal security detail during the runoff. Vitter suggested that the four professionals instead be sent to other locations in the state. In the letter, the US Senator says if he’s elected governor the Protective Services Division will be reduced in size. He’s in the runoff with Democrat John Bel Edwards on November 21st.
