It’s been a full year since an out of state shooter gunned down six law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge. Three of those officers lost their lives that day. Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says even a year later, the tragedy has put officers on high alert.

One year after the attack on law enforcement, East Baton Rouge Deputy Nick Tullier continues to defy the odds. His father James says Nick underwent major abdominal surgery last week to help with the infection he’s been battling since the shooting.

Baton Rouge police are seeking a suspect accused of killing his ex-girlfriend. Sgt. Don Coppola says 52-year-old Robert Antoine is accused of shooting at two individuals over the weekend, including the victim who is believed to be his ex.

A Kinder man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he dumped a box of kittens in a ditch on the side of the road. Jefferson Davis Parish Deputy Christopher Ivey says unfortunately they see a lot of cases of animal abandonment.

63-year-old Morris Williams is charged with five counts of animal cruelty.
