12 out of 24 Louisiana beaches have been placed under a health advisory by the state Department of Health due to high levels of the enterococci bateria. Dr. Fred Lopez with LSU Health New Orleans says this bacteria is found in sewage and the human intestine. He says if you decide to get in the water, you’re swimming at your own risk.

Three candidates have joined the race to fill Scott Angelle’s vacated public service commissioner seat on the second of three qualifying days for the October election. Democrat Damon Baldone was appointed by the governor to occupy the seat temporarily but he’s had his eye on this rice since last year and never told Governor Edwards he wasn’t going to run.

Saints and LSU superfan, Jarrius “JJ” Robertson received the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYS last night. JJ said on ESPN that being the Saints hype man for the past few years has been a blessing and he’s grateful to the team for opening up so many doors for him.
