St Martin Parish Sheriff’s office has a murder investigation underway with a brother and sister in custody in connection with pregnant woman. The victim, Ashley Nicole Meche, was found dead yesterday. Major Ginny Higgins says two people wanted for questioning are Mark Trimble and Toni Trimble. She says authorities are looking into what happened to the 24 year old woman.

The siblings are not yet charged but the investigation continues.
House Speaker Taylor Barras has told the Associated Press he believes the House can come up with a plan by January to address the loss of one-billion dollars in tax revenue that expires next summer. Barras says if there’s enough agreement, a special session could be held early next year. There’s been a stalemate between the House and the governor on how to address the fiscal cliff.
The Shreveport City Council has rejected the mayor’s proposal to build a sports complex in the downtown area. The vote was unanimous. Councilman Oliver Jenkins says 30 million of the city’s dollars would be used along with 139 million in private finances. He says they would like to present this project to the public in a different light, because many didn’t know it could bring in a minor league basketball team.
Jenkins says he was surprised that there was not much support from the business community.
