Delta Regional Authority announces they will invest $72 million in Louisiana to strengthen infrastructure, prepare for disasters, build the workforce, and support small businesses. Federal Co-chairman Chris Masingill says they are investing $275-thousand for two water pumps in Assumption parish. He says the water pump near Paincourtville was damaged by the tornado in February, leaving many residents without clean water.

Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden is facing scrutiny after being in Taiwan last week instead of speaking before Congress alongside the mayors of the flood ravaged cities of Central, Denham Springs and Walker. Holden says some candidates for Baton Rouge mayor are attacking his lack of presence during this difficult time. But he says Baton Rouge isn’t going to fall apart because there is communication between his staffers and everyone is working together.

A Baton Rouge woman has been arrested after accidentally killing her boyfriend during an argument. Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Don Coppola says 25-year-old Larriana Hughes shot her boyfriend, 27-year-old Christopher Payne, while trying to put a gun away. He says Huges sustained minor injuries during the dispute before she was arrested.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a fatal boat crash in St. Mary Parish which took the life of a 7-year-old. LDWF Spokesperson Adam Einck says yesterday a bass boat collided with an aluminum vessel in Bayou Cheramie causing Jaidyn Montet to hit her head. He says this is devastating.

The driver of the aluminum boat has taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.
