A levee breach at a Mississippi sewage plant caused six million gallons of waste to be released into the Bouge Chitto River in St. Tammany parish, prompting a water advisory from the Louisiana Department of Health. State Health Officer Dr. Jimmy Guidry says it will take at least a week to know exactly what we’re dealing with, as the contamination has spread through the river.

Less than 6-percent of last year’s Livingston parish school enrollment count missed the first day back after the flood. Livingston School Superintendent Rick Wentzel says there were some areas that had lower first day turnouts than others, as a lot of students had to transfer to other schools in the district.

The body of a 6-year-old boy who went missing yesterday has been found in Lafayette parish. Youngsville Police Chief Ricky Boudreaux says they had a feeling Keaton Jones was near a pond close to his house, but initial searches turned up nothing.

Boudreaux says after the dives and sonar, they drained the pond and found the boy.
Authorities say a dangerous Assumption parish inmate has been captured after he escaped police custody Wednesday. Lonny Cavalier 44-year-old Drake Domangue escaped while being transferred to St. Mary parish for mental health evaluation and treatment.
