The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center on Tropical Storm Nate shows the storm moving across northeast Nicaragua with maximum sustained winds at 40-miles per hour. The N-H-C says Nate is expected to keep moving in a northerly direction across Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and into the Gulf of Mexico, which it should develop into a hurricane. A landfall in southeast Louisiana as a Category One storm on Sunday is possible.
Former New Orleans Congressman William Jefferson is set to be released from his 13-year sentence for taking bribes. Federal Judge T-S Ellis says seven out of ten counts against Jefferson are now invalid. Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator is concerned about the 192 felons that will be released early from prison next month in Caddo Parish due to criminal justice reform. State Police have arrested a St. Joseph mother for allegedly murdering her newborn and putting him in the dumpster. The one day old boy was found Monday in front of an elementary school. Senior Trooper Michael Reichardt says 21-year-old Alicia Richard is charged with first degree murder. Detectives were able to find Richard when she went to the hospital after having the baby…
