An East Baton Rouge Parish motorcycle deputy has been injured after he was struck by another vehicle just after noon today. The deputy was taken to a Baton Rouge hospital where he is in stable condition but has a broken shoulder. Authorities have not said whether the other driver will be cited in the incident.

 

A former choir teacher at Neville High School is facing additional counts after allegations surfaced he was involved in inappropriate relationships with students. 25-year-old Christian Amos allegedly gave pot to students and possibly enticing them to have sex with him. BESE Representative Gary Jones says these acts Amos is accused of are outrageous.

Amos resigned as the Neville choir director in January without explanation. The suspect is being held at Ouachita Correctional Center on a laundry list of charges.

The mosquito population in Louisiana has exploded with the warmer than usual winter. LSU Assistant Professor of Entomology Kristen Healy says with this increase in the mosquito population comes an increased risk for contracting mosquito borne illnesses.
