LSU Baseball Coach Paul Mainieri announced today that pitcher Eric Walker will undergo surgery for a tear in his right elbow which means he’ll miss all of next season. Walker tried to pitch in a game in Omaha, but left in the third inning, because he felt pain reach his elbow. Tiger Rag Associate Editor James Moran says this surgery was inevitable..:

Moran says Walker’s injury means there will be three new weekend starters for the 2018 season, and it’s not good news for the Tigers.
A 27-year-old Mamou man is dead following an officer-involved shooting. State Police is investigating the case of an Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputy who was apparently involved in a confrontation with Dejuan Guillory during an attempted robbery investigation. The man was killed and the deputy injured.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited five men for allegedly operating a boat while drunk over the 4th of July holiday. LDWF Spokesperson Adam Einck says this is why they have Operation Dry Water Weekend because many people don’t know that a DWI on the water is the same as one on the road..:

A two-year-old Lockport boy is another child who has died in a rash of drownings around Louisiana. Lt. Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says around noon on the 4th of July deputies responded to a call of a child found unresponsive in the bottom of a pool. He says the family of little Kevin Cortez III was visiting the home..:
