State health officials suspect Jambalaya is the cause of an outbreak of Salmonella poisoning in Caldwell Parish. Dr. David Holcombe with the State Office of Public Health says there are 49 confirmed cases of a gastrointestinal illness with 31 people hospitalized. He says salmonella is associated with chicken and eggs.

Pineville Police have made an arrest in the stabbing death of 42-year-old Latish White, who was found early Wednesday morning near the Pineville Expressway. 29-year-old Matthew Sonnier of Pineville was taken into custody around midnight in Alexandria. Pineville Deputy Police Chief Darrell Basco says Sonnier was a known acquaintance of White and the two were together at the time of her death…

Newly elected Public Service Commission member Craig Greene says he’ll be sworn in next week to represent the district that covers Lafayette, Baton Rouge and Houma. Greene says he supports clean energy intitatives to produce electricy, but understands the use of wind energy might not be the best option in Louisiana.
