Vitter’s campaign announced Monday that he would not be taking state police personal security detail which is offered during the gubernatorial run-off. In a written statement, Vitter suggested to Col Mike Edmonson that the four professionals should instead be deployed to other important problem areas in Louisiana like Baton Rouge at the new bridge, the Atchafalaya Basin or and the French Quarter.
An arrest has been made in the bizarre case of the 8-year-old child who was abducted from Linicon Parish last night, causing Amber Alerts to be heard throughout the state. The Ruston Police Department says 23-year-old Sommer Hattaway is charged with kidnapping and theft of a vehicle. Deputy Chief Clint Williams says Dakota Johnson was found safe last night by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, then the began to search for Hattaway:
