State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donleon is issuing some reminders to the public, now that the Affordable Care Act open enrollment period is underway. Don Molino reports…:

Officials with the Thibodaux Police Department say a 44-year-old man was cited after he struck an officer several times and then purposely defecated on himself to avoid arrest. They say Samuel Rodrigue was likey high on drugs when the incident took place. He was issued a misdemeanor summons to appear in court on the charges.

Republican David Vitter and Democrat John Bel Edwards are scheduled to square off in a televised debate on November 16th, the Monday before the runoff. ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says Vitter’s unfovorability ratings have been going up due to his negative campaign strategy so he’ll have to walk a tightrope during the debate…

Edwards placed first in the primary with 40-percent of the vote, followed by Vitter’s 23-percent.

LSU is ranked No. 4 in this week’s AP Top 25 and USA Today’s Coaches Top 25. The Tigers received five first place votes in the AP Poll and one in the Coaches Poll. Alabama remained No. 7 in both polls, setting up a top ten matchup in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The LSU and Alabama SEC battle is set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
