The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man is dead after falling off of a barge at a recycling center in Gibson. They say 44-year-old James Patrick Lafleur of Morgan City was a welder on the platform barge when he fell nearly 60 feet to the barge’s base. Lafleur was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Bill continue to dump significant amounts of rain in Texas, Oklahoma, and northwest Louisiana and officials have been told that another flood event is predicted for the Red River. Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator says it’s expected that the Red will crest again in the next seven to ten days…:

Governor Bobby Jindal announced today that Netchex will be building a new headquarters facility in Mandeville investing $5.3 million to lease the space for 2 years followed by the completion of a new building. The expansion retains 86 jobs and creates 240 new direct jobs with an average salary of $43,800 plus benefits.
