Baton Rouge Police are searching for a suspect accused of luring a 7-year-old from a park and sexually assaulted her. The incident happened on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The girl was playing at Gus Young Park when police say a man lured her over, grabbed her and forced her into his vehicle. Police reports say she was taken to an unknown location where he sexually assaulted her.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office says two men are under arrest accused of selling high-grade weed out of their sno-ball stand. They say 37-year-old Jermaine Doucet and 32-year-old Bryant Fields, both from Opelousas, had been offering customers a side of “Hydro” marijuana to anyone willing to pay. The men were busted while under surveillance taken into custody and the drug sno-ball stand is now closed.
Over one hundred workers at a processing plant hear New Iberia that produces yams will have to find new work. McCall Farms told employees at the facility they are shutting operations down in south Louisiana and moving all sweet potato processing to a plant in South Carolina.
