The Department of Health and Hospitals says they’ve found a brain eating amoeba in a water system in Terrebonne Parish. They say it was discovered in the Schriever Water System in Montegut. State Health Officer Dr. Jimmy Guidry says this is the third water system in the state to test positive for the amoeba this summer but officials are using a better test…:

He says officials are taking steps to increase the chlorine level in the system so residnets in the Houma area may notice a difference in the taste but the water is safe to drink.
Tropical Depression Four has formed in the central Atlantic Ocean and is forecast to be the first hurricane of the 2015 season over the weekend. The National Hurricane Center says there is no immediate threat to land but it will likely continue to track west toward the Caribbean over the next week. They forecast the depression will strengthten today and become Tropical Storm Danny later tonight.
The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office says a 16-year-old Plaquemine High School student has been arrested for bringing a loaded gun to school. Major Ronnie Hebert says some football players told the coach that the student had the gun and commends them for coming forward…:
