After seven inmates escaped from the Women’s Jail Facility in Cottonport this morning, two remain on the run. Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tim Ryan says it appears they were able to defeat a locking mechanism on a fire escape door.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a nationwide ground stop by all United Airlines flights, due to an equipment outage. The FAA says United crews were unable to contact airline dispatchers through normal means. The issue is limited to United and its subsidiaries.
