A week after Lafayette’s Police Chief Thomas Glover was fired, he called in on Mayor Josh Guillory’s weekly radio show on KPEL accusing the mayor of firing him without cause. A reason has never been given as to Glover’s firing and Guillory only refers to it as a personnel matter. Glover however says he along with the community deserves an explanation.
Wayne Griffin has been named interim chief and instead of answering Glover’s questions, Guillory wanted to sing the praises of interim Chief Griffin and tout his loyalty to the city.
Glover was fired from the department on October 7th.
Two contract employees at the BASF plant in Geismar were taken to a local hospital. A spokesperson for the plant says the two employees were exposed to an unknown substance and the Louisiana State Police Hazmat unit is responding to the scene.
And funeral services will be held tomorrow morning in Baton Rouge for Master Trooper Adam Gaubert who was gunned down last Saturday in the line of duty.
State Climatologist Barry Keim says to enjoy the last warm day we’ll have for at least a few days because changes are coming. He says low temps will drop into the 50s in the northern parishes and 60s in the southern parishes tomorrow morning, and by Sunday morning low temperatures will fall about another ten degrees. Highs should only reach into the 70s Saturday through Monday making for what Keim says should be a glorious weekend.
