The state health department reported an additional 26-hundred new coronavirus cases today. During a press conference in Calcasieu Parish, Governor John Bel Edwards says the state is experiencing another surge and we need to take COVID seriously

Carnival season 2020 was noted as a super spreader event in New Orleans before the pandemic was declared and because of that Mayor of New Orleans spokesperson Beau Tidwell says Mardi Gras, 2021 is going to feel different.

The current guidelines of no gatherings over 250-people will not permit parades or balls next year.

On Monday Moderna released news that their COVID vaccine has a 95 percent effectiveness rate, in addition to Pfizer’s with a 90-percent reported rate.  Associate Professor at Tulane’s School of Medicine Dr. Lisa Morici said the FDA indicated the benchmark for success would be a 50-percent efficacy rate for vaccinations in stage three trials.
