Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned after Speaker Mike Johnson continually called for her to step down after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. As a result, he’s announced a bipartisan House Task Force that will be empowered with all investigative authority of the House including subpoena authority.

Closer to home Jimmy Genovese (Gen-o-vez) was introduced today as the 21st president of Northwestern State. Genovese was the lone finalist for the job to replace Doctor Marcus Jones. Genovese left the Supreme Court as a judge to lead his alma mater and he’s amazed at the support he’s received

A Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana survey indicates nearly one in five Louisianans receive food stamps. Invest in Louisiana executive director Jan Moller says almost half of Louisiana households struggle to make ends meet, SNAP, which stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is not meant to be a catchall, it’s to provide supplemental aid for food insecurity.

New Orleans Representative Aimee Freeman who’s been diagnosed breast cancer says she found the lump when she did a self-exam. She urges woman to perform monthly self-exams in addition to annual mammograms. She says when you notice a change, talk to your doctor to rule anything out.
