Much of the state is under a slight risk for severe weather this afternoon and tonight. A cold front will move through and a strong line of storms is expected to accompany the front. Forecasters say the Delta parishes could see the worst of the stormy weather.

Once again, Louisiana leads the nation for highest average combined state and local sales tax rate at 9.55 percent. Louisiana’s state sales tax rate is set to lower to four-percent in 2025 and lawmakers are already thinking about the loss of revenue and what that will mean for state expenses.
