The Corp of Engineers is about to be on the path to some major changes under new legislation that’s nearly been set into law. Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves says the legislation will allow local governments a lot more say so in the construction of vital protection projects, projects that have a decades-old backlog.
The legislation also reforms the Corp of Engineers, removing it from the DoD.
Starting in 2019, Louisiana high school students who compete sequences of STEM courses, will receive a special designation on their diploma for their efforts. Department of Education Assistant Superintendent Ken Bradford says students will be recognized depending on how many courses they’ve taken.
