A federal law is now in effect banning the sale of tobacco and e-cig products to those under 21, but state law still allows those 18 and up to purchase, a situation that’s creating some confusion. Louisiana ATC Commissioner Juana Lombard says if you’re a retailer that is contemplating selling those products to someone 18-21, here’s the deal…

She adds there are now federal agencies actively enforcing that law.

Louisiana’s population declined by nearly 11,000 residents from 2018 to 2019 according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates. Demographer Greg Rigamer says a lack of good-paying jobs is the number one factor driving people out of the state.

There are concerns Louisiana could see a second peak in the flu season sometime in late January/early February as cases continue to climb. Office of Public Health Assistant Secretary Dr. Alex Billioux says if we do get hit with another peak, it’ll likely be because a new strain of flu is beginning to pick up steam in Louisiana.
