The Big Ten votes to cancel all fall college sports citing concerns that the pandemic situation just does not allow for the activities to resume in 2020. Some reports indicate that this could start a domino effect with other conferences soon to follow.

The state’s legislative auditor debunks the claims of duplicate COVID-19 cases that have led some to believe the coronavirus outbreak data is being presented in a manner to be more alarming than it is.  Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera says the parishes may be seeing data before it goes through the state’s processing.

The state reports 562 new COVID-19 cases today with 24 new fatalities. Hospitalizations … 1382, down one. Ventilator usage … 215, up by 5.

 

Over the weekend the father of East Baton Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Tullier, the deputy who was severely injured in July of 2016 during a police ambush, made a surprise video announcement about his son. James Tullier had been living in Houston helping care for his son’s recovery and rehabilitation at an apartment adjacent to TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital.

A 24-year-old Lincoln Parish man is dead after being shot at a party of three to four hundred people. Lincoln Parish Sheriff Sgt. Matthew Henderson says deputies were responding to break up the event when they heard a single gunshot and saw a man approaching them.

The victim, Peter Guy, was transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center where he later died.
