The Louisiana Department of Health issues a recreational water advisory for the Bouge Chitto River in St. Tammany Parish after a levee breach at the Brookhaven, Mississippi sewage plant released six million gallons of storm water diluted sewage. The city of Walker in Livingston Parish has signed a contract with a law firm possibly to file a suit against DOTD regarding the flooding. Mayor Rick Ramsey has said that the flooding that came into his city was the result of a concrete barrier in the middle of I-12 that wasn’t allowing the water to flow over the interstate, but instead cover Walker.

The number of people who have signed up for Louisiana’s Medicaid expansion program continues to grow, surpassing 300,000. The Louisiana Department of Health released the latest figures Monday, saying more than 304,000 people are enrolled for the coverage that began July 1.
