State Police have identified the man fatally shot by a St. Bernard Sheriff’s deputy after a Tuesday altercation. Trooper Evan Harrell says 21-year-old Tyrone Bass of New Orleans was shot dead after attacking a deputy with an object…:

He says investigators are working to determine how many officers shot at Bass and how many shots were fired. The deputy’s name and the type of object used in the attack have not been released.

Two more lawmakers have been added to the list of those who will be running without opposition in the October 24th primary. The state House says Hammond Representative Chris Broadwater and Covington Representative Paul Hollis both had challengers who have decided not to run for the office. The number of legislators in the lower chamber who do not have opponents is 51 out of 105. 39 state senators are up for re-election and twenty won’t have a race to run.

There’s sad news coming out of Grambling State. The wife of legendary football coach Eddie Robinson, Doris Robinson, passed away this morning. She was 96-years-old.
