Mouton says officers later apprehended the suspect, 23-year-old Chase Chaisson of Lafayette and transported him to an area hospital. Chaisson will be charged with attempted 1st degree murder of a police officer, among other charges, upon release. The resident of the apartment where the suspect was found hiding has also been charged.
Forecasters are watching an area of low pressure over southern Florida that’s expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico. An Ascension Parish jury has found a 40-year-old Gonzales man guilty of molesting a young girl. Joseph Scott McKinney molested the girl numerous times when she was between the ages of 6 to 13. McKinney faces up to 99 years in prison.
