What Houma natives Holly and Tracy Pitre thought would be an evening of dancing and fun at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas turned into a night of terror. Holly says they were the lucky ones who happened to be at the right place at the right time to avoid being killed or injured…:

Saints Coach Sean Payton says current gun laws are flawed and frustrating as he spoke about gun control in light of the massacre. He says you can either quietly sit and do nothing, or speak up about what he calls a clear problem in our country…:

Payton said he said the same things after the shooting death of former Saints player Will Smith who was killed in a road rage incident.

The person arrested in the deadly Ouachita Parish deputy-involved shooting has been identified. State Police is investigating and say the cops tried to pull over a Chrysler van around 5:30 in West Monroe, and the driver would not comply, pulled out a gun and then was shot and killed by deputies. The passenger, 35-year-old William Underwood, was later taken into custody and is facing multiple charges.

State Police say the troopers accused in taking an unauthorized side trip during state paid business travel last year have been disciplined, and LSP has concluded its administrative investigation. They say two ranking troopers, a captain and a lieutenant, have been demoted effective immediately, and two others have been reprimanded or counseled.
