Governor Bobby Jindal and officials at LSU broke ground today on the university’s new Engineering complex. When it’s complete — estimated in 2017, the new facility will be one of the largest free-standing engineering buildings in the nation according to a release from Jindal’s office.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in Jeanerette last night. Major Ryan Turner says Jeanerette Police responded to a suspicious person complaint. When they arrived, they learned the suspect had fled. 42-year-old Lance Dauphine was shot after stabbing the officer according to Turner. The suspect is charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder of a police officer.
Gas prices continue their rapid decline. The current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $2.71 which is down 6 cents from just last week.
