Authorities are continuing their efforts to learn more about Lafayette theater shooter John Houser. Eric Gill reports…

The two women who died in the shooting are identified as 21-year-old Mayci Breaux of Franklin and 33-year old Jillian Johnson of Lafayette. 9 others were injured including Breaux’s fiance according his employer. Officials say 7 of the victims remain hospitalized. Further details regarding those involved in the shooting are expected throughout the day.

Governor Bobby Jindal named two teachers heroes after their actions during the Lafayette Grand movie theater shooting last night. Jena Meaux and Ali Martin, of Iberia Parish, were both shot by John Houser. One teacher jumped in front of a bullet, which could’ve hit her friend in the head. Jindal says these women risked their lives to save others:

The Governor has ordered all flags at state buildings to be flown at half staff until next Friday to honor the victims of this horrific tragedy.

West Monroe Police say a young girl has drowned in the Ohachita River along Lazzare Park Thursday night. They say four girls were swimming and encountered trouble…two made it out a third was rescued and the other went under. She is not being identified at this time.
