Louisiana chef Jay Ducote was not the big winner last night on this season’s Food Network Star. The title instead went to former NFL player Eddie Jackson. Ducote found out along with the rest of the viewers that he is the runner-up on the cooking competition’s 11th season. He says his first reaction was extreme disappointment…:

Ducote had referenced his Louisiana and Cajun roots throughout the Food Network Star season. He says he sees this is as just the beginning of a long, promising career as a Louisiana chef.
Louisiana Tech is mourning the death of track and field student-athlete Noah Riche. The 22-year-old, who was a javelin thrower, was killed in an automobile accident in Arkansas after working at a Christian children’s camp at Camp Ozark. The Madisonville native was also an engineering major at Tech.
A state district judge has thrown out the lawsuit of a State House candidate who wanted to be listed as both Democrat and Republican on the ballot. Eric Gill reports…
