Former KKK leader David Duke has filed the necessary paperwork so his name will appear on the ballot for US Senate in the November election. Duke is a registered republican, but the Louisiana Republican Party released a statement that says they’ll play an active role in opposing Duke’s candidacy. GOP Chairman Roger Villere says Duke is a hate-filled fraud.

Meanwhile at Healing Place Church, a tearful good-bye for Baton Rouge police officer Matthew Gerald, one of three police officers gunned down in last Sunday’s ambush. A family friend of Gerald’s told the large gathering of mourners that one of his favorite movies was Lonesome Dove and quoted the famous line from that movie…
