New campaign finance numbers released today show Republican Jeff Landry with a huge lead over his opponents in campaign dollars. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Democrat Shawn Wilson has just 879-thousand dollars on hand.
Landry is reporting six-point-six million dollars in cash on hand. Republican John Schroder is reporting one-point-six million dollars, while Stephen Waguespack and Hunter have just over one million dollars.
Wildlife officials are encouraged by successful hatchings of the endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtle on the Chandeleur Islands, which is off the southeastern coast of Louisiana. Coastal Resources scientists manager with LDWF, Matt Weigel, says the sea turtles were first spotted on the island last year and now there are over 100 sea turtle crawls on the island…
Weigel says it’s one of the highest-density nesting beaches in the northern Gulf of Mexico.
Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon is directing insurance agents to notify Louisiana Citizens policyholders of the possibility they could find affordable coverage with a private insurer. Donelon says SafePoint Insurance Company identified over 19 thousand Citizens policies that could be switched over to a private insurer.
After 45 years of service to Louisiana Tech, President Dr. Les Guice has announced he will retire at the end of the year. Guice has served as President for the last 10 years. Among the biggest challenges Guice faced as president was the 2019 tornado that destroyed several buildings on campus.
