The New Orleans Pelicans lost a close one last night to the Portland Trail Blazers 126-124. The Pels shot almost 47 percent from three-point range as a team. Zion Williamson scored a team-high 36 points, but Blazers point guard Damian Lillard was too much to handle as he poured in 43 points to go along with 16 assists. Head coach Stan Van Gundy says he needs to see more from his team on the defensive end.

LSU baseball’s season opener against Air Force that was scheduled for Friday has been rescheduled to Saturday at 1 p.m. due to inclement weather throughout the country. The Tigers will now face Notre Dame on Sunday at noon and then will play Louisiana Tech at 6:30 on Monday to close out the opening weekend in Alex Box Stadium.
The LSU vs Ole Miss basketball game that was scheduled for tonight has been postponed due to the icy conditions throughout the region. With that news, LSU will now turn its attention to Auburn as they will host the Tigers in Baton Rouge at 3 p.m. on Saturday. LSU is currently 13-6 with an 8-4 record in the SEC, while Auburn is 11-11 with a 5-8 conference mark.
ESPN and CBS Sports released NCAA tournament projections and both included LSU. ESPN has the Tigers as an 8 seed playing ninth seed San Diego St. in West Lafayette, Indiana. CBS also has LSU as the eight-seed in West Lafayette but has the Tigers squaring off against Colorado State.
Southern’s losing streak against Alcorn State in football has ended. The SWAC office has declared that Alcorn’s decision to opt-out of the spring season means the program will forfeit its scheduled games, which means the Jaguars will be declared the winner of the matchup that was supposed to take place on March 27th. Southern has lost the past eight games against Alcorn St on the gridiron, including the past two SWAC championship games.
