The Pelicans just finished their second worst season in franchise history and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson announced today the firing of executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin. Griffin had that role for the last six seasons and that included two playoff appearances. But this year the team finished with a 21-and-61 record. Former LSU football star Kyren Lacy is dead at the age of 24. Authorities in Houston say the Thibodaux native fatally shot himself during a police chase on Saturday night. Harris County Sheriff deputies were looking for Lacy after he fired a gun into the ground during a verbal argument with a female relative. Lacy was preparing for the NFL draft, but a grand jury was also set to meet today to hear evidence in a case where he was charged with negligent homicide for a fatal crash that State Police say he caused in Lafourche Parish in December.

The Saints offseason conditioning program begins today, and quarterback Derek Carr could reportedly miss the season with a shoulder injury. Ross Jackson, host of the Locked on Saints podcast, says Carr’s injury gives New Orleans a chance to rebuild…
