Great comeback win for the eighth ranked LSU baseball team last night as they were down six to two in the fifth inning, but scored five runs in the fifth inning and won eight to six. Daniel Dickinson hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning and Steven Milam hit a two-run blast. Zac Cowan continues to be great out of the pen as the right-hander threw four scoreless innings and struck out seven for his third save. Cowan says he’s pitching with confidence…

Game two of the series is tonight at 6:30.

Also tonight at 6:30, the LSU Lady Tigers will take on North Carolina State in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The two teams played in a tournament in the Bahamas in November and LSU won by 17. The Wolfpack are the A-C-C regular season champs.

 

For LSU football to reach its potential next season, the Tigers defensive secondary needs to improve. Defensive Coordinator Blake Baker says safeties Dashawn Spears and Javien Toviano are developing nicely…

LSU men’s basketball freshman guard Vyctorius Miller is entering the NCAA Transfer portal. The former four-star recruit averaged nearly nine points a game last season.

In high school basketball news…Plainview’s Zequan Lewis has been named the Class C boys basketball player of the year. Lewis averaged 25 points a game as the Hornets won their first state championship in 60 years. Simpson sophomore Olivia Edwards is the Class C girls player of the year. Edwards averaged 16 points as the Lady Broncos won their first state title since 2001.
