LSU’s defense appears to be making strides during this preseason camp. Coach Brian Kelly likes the energy level he’s seeing from the group, but the defense is still a work in progress when it comes to getting lined up correctly, communicating effectively and executing the fundamentals

Kelly says they don’t’ have a depth chart for the defensive secondary as they are looking for guys to put consecutive good days of practice together and that will determine who will start in the season opener against USC.
Despite a rough preseason opener, the Saints are keeping former first round pick Trevor Penning as their starting right tackle. Coach Dennis Allen says if one of the reserve offensive linemen show that they can be the guy, then they’ll make a change. New Orleans second preseason game is Sunday at San Francisco.
Sixteen days left before the Ragin Cajuns kick off the season against Grambling on August 31st. Coach Michael Desormeaux has yet to settle on a starting quarterback between Chandler Fields and Ben Woolridge. Desormeaux says who ever takes care of the football better will start…

The season opener is fast approaching for McNeese State. The Cowboys are playing at Tarleton State in Week Zero, so that means the game is August 24th. Third year head coach Gary Goff says the excitement has definitely picked up a bit. The Cowboys are picked to finish sixth in the Southland this season.
