The other finalists are Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. The Heisman Trophy winner will be announced Saturday night.

The Pelicans will play in the semi-finals of the NBA’s first-ever in-season tournament after beating the Kings 127 to 117 in Sacramento last night. New Orleans got a big game from Brandon Ingram, who had 30 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. The 12 and 10 Pels will play either the Lakers or Suns on Thursday in Las Vegas.

The Saints season is slipping away as they’ve lost three in a row and they are 5-and-7 on the season. Atlanta is in first place in the NFC South with a 6-6 record and they own the tiebreaker over New Orleans. Coach Dennis Allen says they need a win this Sunday against Carolina…

Allen says it’s too early to say if quarterback Derek Carr will play Sunday after suffering his second concussion in a month and also sustaining an injury to his ribs after taking a hard hit in Sunday’s defeat to the Lions.

Last night in the NFL, former LSU Tiger Ja’Marr Chase had a big night as he caught 11 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown as the Bengals upset the Jaguars 34-31 in overtime in Jacksonville. Cincinnati got the win with Jake Browning as its quarterback. Browning, who is filling in for the injured Joe Burrow threw for 354 yards and a touchdown.
