LSU baseball has been ranked number one all season long, but after losing its first SEC series of the season, the Tigers have dropped to number two in the polls behind Wake Forest.

LSU’s powerful offense was held to eleven runs in the three-game series to Auburn. And several pitchers had a rough outing, Ty Floyd, Javen Coleman, Bryce Collins, Christian Little and Griffin Herring. But Coach Jay Johnson says the guys who struggled on the mound are more than capable…

LSU will try to get back on track tonight as they host Northwestern State. Also tonight, La Tech hosts Ragin Cajuns and McNeese in a non-conference matchup.

LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon has landed a commitment from center Hunter Dean, a Mandeville native, who played the last three seasons at George Washington. The six-foot-ten, 235 pounder averaged nearly nine points and six rebounds a game last season. He’s the fourth prep player from Louisiana to transfer to LSU in the last five weeks.

The Southland Conference Softball Tournament begins today in Lake Charles. At 2:30 Southeastern Louisiana will take on H-C-U. The Lions Bailey Krolczyk has been named the Southland Player of the Year and the Hitter of the Year. S-L-U’s catcher is hitting .384 10 home runs and 48 RBIs.

Tonight Nicholls takes on Northwestern State. The Colonels Justin Lewis has been named Coach of the Year. McNeese is the top seed and they will play tomorrow against the winner of today’s game between Lamar and A-and-M Corpus Christi.

The Conference USA Softball Tournament gets underway tomorrow at noon in Ruston. La Tech will play Middle Tennessee.

The Sun Belt Tournament gets underway tomorrow in Lafayette. Eighth seeded ULM will face ninth seeded Georgia State at 4 PM. The Cajuns are the top seed and will play the winner of that game on Thursday night.
