Playing much better football this Saturday is a big storyline for LSU heading into its home opener against McNeese. The other major storyline is that Tigers Coach Ed Orgeron will spend this week trying to figure out how to defend his son, Cody, who is the starting quarterback for the Cowboys.

Orgeron started three games in 2018 and became the full-time starter in 2019. This past week, Orgeron threw for a career-high 361 yards in a season-opening loss to West Florida. Cody’s two other brothers currently serve on LSU’s coaching staff and Cody admits during the summer he gave his twin brother Parker the business…

The Saints have four quarterbacks on their roster heading into Sunday’s season opener against Green Bay. Starter Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, rookie Ian Book and the team just brought back Trevor Siemian. Based on what Coach Sean Payton said yesterday, it sounds like Hill will go back to playing a variety of positions on offense….

The Saints are also expected to sign veteran cornerback Desmond Trufant. Trufant has eight years of NFL experience with Atlanta and Detroit. He was recently released by the Bears.

After opening the season with a 49-28 victory over North Alabama on Saturday in Florence, Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana moved up three spots to number 14 in the latest F-C-S Coaches poll. Lions Q-B Cole Kelley was named Southland Offensive player of the week. S-L-U Cornerback Ferlando Jordan was named Southland Defensive Player of the week.
